ORIGIN

Validated carbon credits. Supplied by Origin Ledgers. Allocated to named programs.

ORIGIN is where Origin Ledgers supplies validated carbon credits to emissions allowance programs. Project developers list credits issued under approved registries. Origin Ledgers validates them, buys them when they are allocated to a program, and sells them to the program manager or participants. The originating registry remains the authoritative record, and retirement always takes place there. Origin Ledgers records each step.

Two markets. One supply layer.

Different market purposes. One place to record registry-validated supply, provenance, allocation, and retirement.

Regulated schemes use their own compliance instruments. ORIGIN does not supply them; this context explains how they differ from program supply.

Credits used outside a compliance obligation, including corporate climate programs and excess-emissions settlement. Their use depends on the applicable program rules and the evidence supporting the credit.

For registries
The rule

Listed is not validated. Validated is not allocated.

A project can be listed without allocatable supply. Supply can be validated without being allocated. Allocation to a program, assignment to a participant, and retirement in the registry are each separate events. Each status records a distinct event, and one status never implies the next.

01
Listed Listed by the project developer. The project, its documentation and credit information have been provided by its project developer. The credit remains recorded in its registry of record.
02
Validated Provenance Validation Network (PVN) has checked the supply against ORIGIN's eligibility rules.
03
Allocated Once allocated, supply is committed exclusively to that program. It does not return to ORIGIN. The only exception is a recorded release when retirement in the originating registry is permanently impossible.
04
Assigned A program credit is placed with a specific participant position.
05
Retired The underlying credit is retired in its originating registry, and Origin Ledgers records the result in the program lifecycle.
